Climate Literacy Handbook for Beginners
May 11, 2026

Making Climate Conversations Easier to Understand
Climate change is often discussed in technical language that feels difficult, intimidating, or disconnected from everyday people. At Aptech Lab, we believe climate literacy should not be limited to experts. It should be understandable, practical, and accessible to everyone. To address this gap, we are developing a Climate Literacy Handbook for Beginners that simplifies climate concepts using stories, visuals, examples, and local context from Nepal. The handbook aims to help readers understand not only the science behind climate change, but also how it affects livelihoods, health, agriculture, waste, water, cities, and future opportunities.
Why We Are Doing This
Many people want to engage in climate conversations but do not know where or how to start. Existing resources are often either too academic or too generic. Nepal also lacks beginner friendly climate education materials that connect global climate discussions with local realities.
We see climate literacy as the foundation for meaningful climate action. Before people can participate in solutions, they need to understand the problem and their role within it.
Methodology
- Research and simplification of climate concepts into beginner friendly language
- Use of illustrations, local case studies, and practical examples
- Consultation with educators, climate practitioners, and youth groups
- Translation of complex topics into engaging and relatable formats
- Distribution through workshops, schools, digital platforms, and awareness programs
Who Is This For?
- Students and young professionals
- Schools and educational institutions
- Beginners exploring climate topics
- Community groups and NGOs
- Anyone interested in sustainability and climate action
Current Status and Timeline
The handbook structure and content framework are currently being developed. The initial version is expected to include topics such as GHG emissions, Global warming, Climate change, Carbon footprints, Carbon negotiations, Climate finance, Climate justice, etc.
